Our RE curriculum follows the Essex Agreed Syllabus. We use a range of high-quality resources such as Discovery RE and Saffron RE to support the children’s learning and development in RE. We have planned our RE curriculum to ensure that it is in line with the Statement of Entitlement for RE.
We aim to:
- To ensure children have a good understanding of religions and what it means to belong to a religious community.
- To provide opportunities for all children to learn about different religions, as well as a deeper understanding of Christianity.
- Allow children to become critical thinkers; providing opportunities for children to challenge, investigate, discover and question.
- To have an understanding of how religion can be interpreted in different ways around the world.
- To ensure that all children, including those with SEND, are able to access the curriculum.
How we will achieve our aims:
- Weekly RE lessons.
- High quality teaching that is appropriately pitched to individual children.
- Lessons provide regular opportunities for practising a variety of skills (thinking, believing, living).
- Encouragement to share ideas in a respectful manner and environment.
- Skills and knowledge progress across year groups.
- Links to the church to support our Curriculum.
- Links to our school values.
- Children enjoy RE lessons and are confident to demonstrate and discuss their learning with others
